Officials Expect Change as Ride-Sharing Grows Across Region

Motorists around southern Minnesota are turning to companies such as Lyft and Uber to get them from point A to point B, but the gig economy hasn’t hit Owatonna roads quite yet. Ride-sharing companies develop phone apps through which drivers wanting to make money can accept requests from passengers seeking rides. The services, which offer an alternative to traditional taxis or mass transit, have grown explosively in the past five years, and are now offered in hundreds of cities around the world. That includes a growing presence in Minnesota.
