Writers and the Gig Economy: Just Scraping By

The Chicago Tribune – January 24, 2017

Writing life is inherently precarious, the ability to keep at it one minor hiccup away from falling apart entirely. Even those with a big book behind them can’t guarantee security. This puts most writers in a similar position as lots of other Americans: working in the “gig” economy. A majority of the on-demand workers have other jobs. I wonder what percentage of Uber drivers have published novels?
